His Grace Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe has been in Greenland the past few days, visiting the few Romanians settled on this remote island of the North Pole.
From Greenland, the Romanian hierarch arrived in northern Norway, beyond the Polar Circle, in Skjervøy, where he performed the Resurrection Service and the Holy Liturgy of the Easter night. Romanians from the Norwegian islands and fjords beyond the Polar Circle rejoyced this year also, by receiving the Holy Light, defying the blizzard and snowdrifts.
Few people know that in these islands and fjords in the extreme northern part of Norway, several tens of Romanian families live scattered.
On Sunday afternoon, Father Bishop Macarie served the Second Resurrection in the Romanian parish in Tromsø, Norway.
