On these days His Grace Bishop Macarie Drăgoi of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Northern Europe is on a pastoral visit to the Romanians from the Southwest part of Sweden.

On this occasion, on Saturday, the eve of the Pentecost, on the day of the remembrance of the ones asleep in the Lord, on June 15, 2019, the Romanian Orthodox hierarch had performed the Divine Liturgy and the Service of the Remembrance of the ones asleep in the Lord, in the parish church in the town of Borås, and on the Sunday of the Pentecost, on June 16, 2019, Father Bishop Macarie served the Holy Liturgy of the Patron Feast, with the Vespers of the bending of the knees in the Romanian church in Gothenburg.

In his word, speaking of the significance of the Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the His Grace Father Bishop Macarie said: “Christ ascended and the Paraclete, the Spirit of Truth, descended upon us, in the form of tongues of fire, the One who purifies and renews the flesh. Christ ascended, but His Most Holy Spirit descended upon us, Who elevates us in the dignity of God’s family, brothers of the Son, sons of the heavenly Father. By filling ourselves with the Holy Spirit, we will become light bearers, we will scatter the darkness that covers the world. Through confession, through our lives we will make God known to the people, we will remain alive in the Lord, torches lit by the fire of divine grace”.

After sharing with the Sacraments, the little children received several gifts from His Grace Macarie, and the believers were offered icons. All those present at the service worshiped the Icon of the Mother of God – The Inexhaustible Chalice, an icon that is celebrated in the parish church in Gothenburg.
