His Grace Bishop Macarie Drăgoi of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Northern Europe is in these days in Romania for the fulfillment of important philanthropic actions and participation in the work of the Holy Synod.
Thus, on Sunday, February 17, 2019, with the blessing of the His Eminence Metropolitan Laurentiu of Transylvania, His Grace Macarie was in the deprived area of Copsa Mica, where he personally distributed the 100 poor children, the social scholarships in February, which consist the social program of the Orthodox Romanian Diocese of North Europe in partnership with the Archdiocese of Sibiu. After the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the Holy Confessors in Transylvania, in the Orthodox cemetery in Medias, where he christened the priest’s niece, parish priest Flaviu Fleşer, Bishop Macarie arrived at Valea Viilor, accompanied by father archpriest Ioan-Ovidiu Găban and the priests from the region. The children and their parents served a warm meal offered by the Most Holy Macarie, with the help of preparing the dishes of parishioners of the local parochial community pastored by the priest Peter Acatrinei. The little ones were glad to see their hierarch friend who was in their midst on several occasions in the past.
Father Macarie said: “We often open accounts in the bank, but the safest deposit is the one we open in heaven, in the form of good deeds, which do not fade, which rust does not ruin them and the thieves do not dig and steal, as the Gospel tells us. These deposits also await their interest, for God never remains in debt to anyone.”
