His Grace Bishop Macarie: “The hour comes when the masks will fall, and the truth will come out”

These days, His Grace Bishop Macarie was among the believers in the Swedish island of Gotland and in Stockholm.

On Sunday, March 3, 2019, the hierarch served the Divine Liturgy in the small Romanian Orthodox community protected by Saint Hierarch Nicholas in Visby, on the island of Gotland. Those present at the service were spiritually strengthened by the hierarch while receiving many gifts and books of spiritual use. On Monday and Tuesday, March 4 and 5, 2019, father bishop Macarie served the Divine Liturgy at the Chapel of the Diocesan Center in Stockholm, ordaining in priesthood the young deacons Daniel Florea and Andrei Cojocariu serving in the Romanian parishes in the Danish island of Funen, in Odense and in Svendborg.

In the word of preaching, His Grace Macarie said that the evangelical pericope of the Frightful Judgment confronts us with the ultimate reality of our life: “For the hour comes when all the things around us that seem to be essential will end when the ephemeral ones of the world will perish when the masks will fall and the truth will come out. When the facts will speak for us, and we will not have a word of justification or need to explain something. Only our conscience will speak. That is the “moment of truth,” in which our eternity is decided. If we were aware of the importance of this “moment of truth”, would we run after so many worthless things with which we inflate our minds and waste our soul? Would we listen to so many misleading voices? Would we ever mock our soul by doing things worthy of shame? Surely not. We would stay awake, watching, because the end comes like a thief, that is coming unexpected, putting us in front of our own life and our own chances that we alone give ourselves for salvation”, said the bishop of the Romanians in Northern Europe.
